I encountered this when the server launched for beta earlier today:
I'd assume there's a hard limit on the client itself for the length of a password, but if you've registered for an account through the website using a password that's somewhat long (say...25 characters, for example), it appears as if you're not able to log in to the game with those credentials - I ended up having to shorten my password in order to log in.
Bonus: I remember seeing on Discord that some other folks were having issues with account names and passwords being too short, and this might be in the same vein? See here and here.
