Suggest removing the poking mechanics when range characters are in melee range of mobs. Its just a bad mechanic and a big QOL for range classes.

I prefer when a ranged class has the minimum range mechanic. It makes it require some skill (jump attacking for a Sin for example, or using Power Knockback on a Hunter to smack multiple mob backs to create some room), & I find it more fun when I actively need to put in inputs to do well instead of just being able to press attack with no thought.
